ITF DIRECTOR-GENERAL DECLARES OPEN THE 2009 ITF LIBRARY WEEK

 

The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund, Associate Professor L. S. Wapmuk, has called on the teaming populace that grazed the ITF Library Week Celebration to imbibe the culture of reading books in the library stressing that only reading will save us from the dangers of ignorance.

 

Declaring the Library Week open, Professor Wapmuk stated the importance of library in any community as indispensable adding that "despite the advent of INTERNET where access to information is limitless, there is more precise information which only the books in the library can provide. Therefore, library is the store of knowledge and the road to knowledge acquisition."

 

In his address, the Director of CRIT Department, Mr. S. A. Alabi, further commented on libraries as being very crucial to learning and reading hence ensuring that resources to examine and confront most of our social difficulties are documented. Adding that "learning to read is the first duty of every citizen, using that ability to find ways of conducting ourselves and managing problems of human existence is another".
