UPHOLD CORE VALUES OF THE ITF

- DG urges staff

 

The Director-General of the Fund, Professor Longmas Sambo Wapmuk has called on staff to uphold the core values of ITF which are centred on honesty, dedication, hard work, punctuality, loyalty and perseverance. The Chief Executive made this call during his tour of Gusau, Sokoto and Katsina Area Offices recently. Reminding the workers on the need to increase their productivity, Wapmuk said, both serving and retired staff of the Fund have stake in the organizations and therefore, imperative for all and sundry to work hard to sustain ITF continuous existence.

 

On his vision for ITF, Professor Wapmuk said his administration is focused on building an ITF where workers will be contented and decried the spate of rumour and gossips in the system, emphasizing that such vices will not be allowed to derail his policy thrust. He reiterated his desire to carry all staff along and called for maximum cooperation to enable him realize the mandate of the Fund.

 

Earlier in a welcome address, Area Manager Gusau, Mal. Mamuda Halidu, expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive for the visit and particularly for upgrading the office to its present status. He said the Area Office is working assiduously to achieve the corporate skills development of both the private and public sectors of the state. So far he said, 154 trainees from 46 organizations were trained by the Area Office in various skills competencies in 2007.

 

In Sokoto, the Area Manager, Mal. A. S. Bungudu highlighted the first quarter activities to include successful implementation of a programme for 50 Secretaries and Typist organized by Kebbi State government in collaboration with the ITF. Another workshop in collaboration with the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN), was in progress at the time of visit. The workshop which was to improve on the skills of block makers is expected to be marketed in other Area Offices.

 

On his part, Katsina Area Manager, Alh. Auwalu Shehu commended the Chief Executive for bringing stability to the ITF and also the faithful implementation of monetization policy, restructuring of the Fund’s departments, movement from HAPSS to CONTISS and especially the re-branding of ITF products and services. He noted that the Area Office is making progress in training and other activities in spite of its geographical location and low economic activities.

 

Also speaking during the tour, Zonal Director, Mrs. T. A. Odeniyi urged staff of the Area Offices to redouble their effort and commitment to duty. She noted that personal and organizational successes depend to a great deal on unity and cooperation in the work place. Stressing that for workers to be effective and relevant to their jobs, they need to develop themselves.
