IMBIBE ACCOUNTABILITY AND PROFESSIONALISM

- DG urges Accountants

The Director-General of the Fund, Prof. Longmas Sambo Wapmuk has called on Accountants and Auditors of the Fund to make accountability and professionalism their watchword. He stated this in a message at the opening ceremony of public sector accounting workshop recently in Kaduna. He said the workshop is not only necessary, but timely to make service delivery by government agencies effective and efficient in line with the reform as well as to reposition the ITF to provide more qualitative service to its clients.

Represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Fatima Usman, Wapmuk urged the participants to pay keen attention to the programme as it is meant to acquaint them with the financial system of the Federal Government as it differs from that of the private sector which is currently in use in the Fund.

Declaring the workshop open, Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Muktar Yaro, commended the ITF for its policy on human resource development as this would go a long way to meeting the millennium development goal agenda, as well as ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources. He urged the participants to commit themselves to the programme as it would afford them better advantage over their peers and prepare them for future challenges.
