SHUN NEGATIVE WORK ATTITUDES, DG CHARGES STAFF

The Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Prof. Longmas Wapmuk has urged the workforce to avoid negative work attitudes and embrace team work.

 

The DG who gave the charge while on a visit to Uyo Area Office lauded the manifestation of team work by staff of the Area. Recounting his achievement sine assuming duty in August, 2006, Prof. Wapmuk said apart from carrying  out the Federal Civil Service Reforms, he ensured the promotion of 600 members of the workforce just as he facilitated the transition from the HAPSS previously operated by the Fund to CONTISS. Other achievements he said was to commitment to staff development, on a scale not previously witnessed in the Fund.

 

He charged the staff to repay management efforts to improve staff welfare and general working condition with loyalty and dedication to duty. Earlier in his welcome address, Area Manager of Uyo Area Office, Gambo Niemogha, commended the Director General for promoting and upgrading deserving staff, re-categorisation of the Fund as a research institute, and the actualisation of the Consolidation Tertiary Institution Salary (CONTISS).

 

He said the Area Office had attained most of its targets for 2007.  In SIWES for instance, the Area Manager said N3, 266,000.00 was paid as Students and Supervisory Allowances to tertiary institutions in state, while seven SIWES orientation and zonal meetings were organised for stakeholders in the state.

 

Gambo stated that in the Area of Direct Training Services, the Area Office implemented 7 scheduled and unscheduled training programmes despite a plethora of problems facing the Area Office. He listed some of the problems as the dwindling number of contributing employers, inadequate computers and the absence of the befitting office accommodation among others.
